Paramount has bought a pitch for a movie called How Could You Do This to Me? It will be developed as a project for Miranda Cosgrove. It being a pitch means that at this time it’s still a general idea and storyline, there isn’t actually a script yet. The story deals with a teenager who feels that her life has become better through the divorce of her parents. When there is a risk of her parents getting back together she does anything to keep her parents apart.
Sounds like a very basic standard comedy; just the divorce being a good thing is sort of new. Usually it’s a kid trying to bring parents back together. So it’s probably something enough people will go for; just a comedy to go to without really thinking. Nothing high class just something for entertainment.
Now that might be a problem for Miranda Cosgrove; she’s trying to profile herself too much as a comedic actress, she really has done nothing else so far. There is nothing wrong with being a comedic actress but these days actors who work in only one genre seem to have a limited shelf life. Lets just look at someone else from the Nickelodeon family; Amanda Bynes. Amanda never did anything besides comedy and it seems like people already have seen enough of her, she just isn’t doing any new projects right now which is rather odd for a 21 year old.
It’s not that this project is the wrong choice for Miranda; it might just be time to look into other things as well. Though this is obviously the thing Paramount/Nickelodeon goes for.

So the first episode of Sonny With a Chance aired and what do we think of it? Not feeling it so far would be the best way to describe it. The first fears have already been partially proven; the sketches performed on the show So Random within the show Sonny With a Chance aren’t even close to being funny. Doesn’t mean that’s enough reason to disqualify the entire show, for a final verdict more episodes have to be aired, this is just a first impression.
The show starts of with a bit of a missed chance; we see Sonny how she prepares to leave for Hollywood. They explain why she was picked (because she had a funny webshow) to be on So Random but we never see the moments that lead up to it. It might be that Disney was afraid to enter iCarly’s turf a bit much if they had done it but it would have added something to the general premise of the show. As they started it; Sonny doesn’t really start of as the not famous girl who has to get used to the fame. She’s in Hollywood from the start.
There are still a lot of open questions to be answered in later episodes; will there be anything outside of the TV studio or Sonny’s home? Disney is rather known for limiting the number of sets they shoot on so it wouldn’t be very surprising but it would be a pity. Especially seeing they’re doing a TV show within the show, they could basically use the entire Walt Disney Studios complex to shoot the show. Which hopefully they will do to some extent.
The main problem seems to be the cast so far though; especially Tiffany Thornton just seems not funny at all (who’s a mystery a little bit, there is not even a source which says when she was born). The entire cast seems rather random actually with Allisyn Ashley Arm playing a rather odd character who likes to spend her spare time in a sarcophagus and air canals. That’s just a comedic factor which seems far too forced which makes it not funny at all. The rest of the cast isn’t really noteworthy so far; they’re just there.
As for Demi Lovato the main star; she is known to smile a lot but in same cases on Sonny With a Chance it just seems extremely forced. The whole cast just doesn’t interact naturally. Of course it’s a show mainly aimed at kids and teens but right now there is just something missing on screen. Hopefully that will get better in later episodes.

Taylor Swift has announced her first headlining tour, the Fearless Tour and some of the tickets are already on sale actually. For the complete list and links to how buy tickets click here to go to her official tour page. There are 56 dates spread over a period of eight months which seems surprisingly manageable. Some of these concert tour promoters seem to like to stick as many shows in as short a period of time as possible. Though Taylor has the advantage of being focused on music and not having a movie or TV career on the side (yet).
She’s playing a mix of festivals, events and solo concerts. It’s actually surprising that the shows that have gone on sale already aren’t sold out yet though these are usually the festivals. The solo concerts haven’t really gone on sale yet except for concerts in Australia. Odd to see her going to Australia; wasn’t aware of any chart success there but that’s pretty much where she starts of her tour if you don’t count two festivals in the USA before that.
Looking at her album sales she shouldn’t have any problem selling out the tour though.

When The Secret Life of the American Teenager premiered on ABC Family last July it was somewhat of a surprise; teen pregnancy seems a bit outside of the comfort zone for a channel owned by Disney. So here was this show where a normal teenager got pregnant by making one single mistake, the main character Amy (played by Shailene Woodley) can hardly be considered the loose type. They have other characters on the show to take care of it, one of which is the father of the baby (Ricky).
So here was a chance for ABC Family to shine light on a problem which everyone knows exists but no one really seems to want to confront. Sure there are shows where the premise contains teen pregnancy (good example being Gilmore Girls) but it never actually shows the daily dealings as far as the issue is concerned. At first The Secret Life of the American Teenager actually seemed to be doing that; portraying a somewhat realistic view of the subject.
There were story lines in the first part of the show which didn’t quite make sense or were very realistic (certain aspects around Ben becoming her boyfriend mainly) but the main storyline seemed to be intact. Amy finding out about the pregnancy and having to deal with the fact. There were other characters on the show obviously, characters she is involved with and the factor of a boyfriend was also added. The other characters served as support cast to the central storyline, then it all changed.

Amanda Seyfriend is going to play a role in A Woman of No Importance based on the play by Oscar Wilde. She joins Annette Benning who plays one of the other lead roles. The story is basically about a young woman who falls victim to games by a group of members upper-crust British Society.
It’s not really clear whether this will be a modern adaptation or a period drama, at least I found no clue to either one. If it’s a period drama I would have to say yet another period drama; a lot of them are being made but I rarely have the feeling that there is a big market for them.
Amanda is milking the success of Mamma Mia right now as she should; if you have a success movie and your name is in the spotlight use it to get more roles. Just not sure if a period drama would be the right choice.
