Edition 52: Morals and Integrity
While I was doing my rounds on the internet today I stumbled across something regarding the latest leaked Miley Cyrus pictures (assuming that they’re real for now anyway, it’s still possible they’re fake but the consequence of the pictures is nonetheless the same). It was a link to the actual forum the pics were leaked on, I’m obviously not going to post that link but it doesn’t matter anyway. There are plenty of sites that have posted it. Seems that the forum owners aren’t too happy about that because it got them a lot of extra unwanted traffic. It is in principle a forum about anything (I think) but has turned into a Miley picture only forum.
When I saw the posts that were made by the person that leaked them it just pissed me off and I don’t get pissed off easily. It’s not so much about that they were leaked but the guy’s twisted reasoning for leaking them. This person claims to have had access to Miley’s email for months and that he spied on her continuously. At some point however he lost access due to a password change and that’s when he released the pictures. I’m still convinced that the pictures aren’t actually that bad but not everyone agrees with that view and the person releasing these knows that.
First of all: what pathetic excuse for a human being goes spying on someones personal email for months? Doesn’t even matter if they’re famous or not; it’s private and should remain so. The fact that it’s an invasion of a fifteen year olds privacy probably makes it even worse. Odds are that if this person had access to pictures for this long (the pictures released are actually dated in October of last year, so they’re hardly new) the earlier leaked ones also came from him.
The pictures aren’t the only thing though, he’s also spreading stories on that forum about things he has read in Miley’s emails. We’re talking things like having sex with Nick Jonas. He of course can’t prove any of it but that rarely matters to people (and I use the term loosely) like that. It’s easier to make up a story than to actually prove it. One person making a purity pledge is something that’s not too hard to believe; two fifteen year olds breaking one at the same time is a bit harder to swallow.
He of course says that he’s trying to sell the pictures he still has but is also afraid of getting in legal trouble if he does. If he really were that afraid of legal trouble he wouldn’t be leaking the pictures in the first place let alone boast about having invaded Miley’s privacy for months. As for the pictures that are for sale; unlike what some media outlets are reporting he doesn’t claim to have kept the worst pictures of Miley for the highest bidder. The Miley in a wet T-shirt under a shower pictures is as bad as they come according to him.
Just because you have access to something doesn’t mean you should abuse it. Just to give an example, I know where Amanda Bynes lives; home address and everything. Granted; it doesn’t really compare to having access to someones private email. It’s far less an invasion of privacy and it’s something that’s far easier to find out. The basic principle is the same though, it’s not my information and isn’t something that I should be spreading. Simply because I don’t have a right to.
So it’s basically a question of morals. Some people choose not to use certain things they know about while others with a complete lack of morals try to destroy a fifteen year olds life just because she’s a celebrity. Though the person in question knows very well that it won’t destroy her career but it won’t do her any good either.
It doesn’t actually matter what the exact reasoning of this person was; one thing is clear. It was intended to hurt someone he doesn’t actually now. That’s something I’ll never understand; it’s bad enough that sites like TMZ, X17 and Perezhilton intentionally try to hurt celebrities but I don’t see a point in single people doing it.
Though it is somewhat funny if you look at how some of those sites do that; they usually lack a complete lack of journalistic integrity. I don’t claim to be a journalist because I’m not but at least I try to get my facts straight. If X17 feels the need to say that Miley Cyrus is wearing a bikini while she’s wearing a bathing suit it doesn’t actually reflect well on them.
That just makes me laugh though, just like people commenting on TMZ about how Miley Cyrus and her entourage misbehaved when they were visiting Universal Studios Orlando. That’s not exactly unheard of with celebrities but they might want to have checked on something first. The article was about Miley being at Universal Studios yes; tiny detail they missed was that it was Universal Studios Hollywood. A theme park on the other side of the country.
In the end it’s not really any different from releasing those pictures though. These are people that are intentionally trying to hurt someone; Miley Cyrus in this case. That’s something I’ll never understand, I can’t imagine why I would want to hurt a person I’ve never met let alone know.
Overall what I’ve written might not seem like I’m that pissed but I’m holding back, no real point in wasting too much energy on it. This edition might have been a bit random but as I said I’m not a journalist. At least I have integrity.
