If I counted correctly that’s 57 awards, a bit much if you ask me. Some categories seem a bit redundant. Can’t say that I can argue with the results the list is too long for that really, though they were decided by online vote and people were allowed to vote every day. At least it was Fox who decided on the nominees and not like MTV did also have an online vote for the VMA’s which resulted in probably the worst nominees list for any award show I’ve ever seen.

I might get back to the TCA’s once I’ve seen the show but for now people will have to do with the results.

Company switch

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Most people will find this news boring as hell but it’s still news involving quite a lot of people featured on this site. Mitchell Gossett is switching companies, he’s switching from Cunningham Escott Slevin Doherty to United Talent Agency or UTA for short (that business card will be a lot smaller). Who the hell is Mitchell Gossett is a question most people will ask.

Well, he’s the talent agent for AnnaSophia Robb, Taylor Momsen, Victoria Justice, Demi Lovato and the big one being Miley Cyrus of course (not that the other ones are bad clients to have). So they’re all switching companies with him, once a talent agent switches agencies they can either choose to stay with the agent or to stay with the agency. All of them chose to stay with the agent which says quite a lot about the guy. Gossett is mainly known for developing young talent (more recent examples would be Kristen Bell and Hayden Panettiere) through their careers.

For the careers of the people mentioned it doesn’t really change that much; they’re still guided by the same person but it’s still worth mentioning. It clearly shows that there are influential people in Hollywood that the bulk of the general audience (so the people that just watch movies, TV Shows and read magazines and aren’t really interested in the behind the scenes) never really hear of.

Another list

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Every year People has their list of 100 Most Beautiful People, though it might seem that way it’s not just about plain looks. If that were the case the average age of the list would be younger, the age of the people on the list range from teenagers to people in their sixties. What their exact criteria are is something I don’t know of course, everyone has their own system of ranking people.people.jpgSo who is in it that actually interests us? Well to be completely honest I don’t know yet. The issue isn’t out yet, there are only reports here and there who’s in it but no complete list. For now looking at who’s pretty much certain to be in it are Vanessa Hudgens, Taylor Momsen (as part of the Gossip Girl cast) and Miley Cyrus.

Though there’s no real need to mention Miley in that sort of cases, she’s in pretty much every list these days (except for the ones she can’t legally be in like all those hottest babes lists). Also being released this week is the Time 100 most influential people in the world list and Miley is on it. She’s part of the artists & entertainers section; she’s the youngest person to ever make the list. At first glance you would think isn’t that going a bit far? Putting Miley on the same list as people like the Dalai Lama or Barack Obama?

Of course those are in different categories but if you think about it you can understand why she is on there. She might not be a very big influence on the adults in the world but right now she is the biggest star amongst kids, kids are a major part of society. If she had no influence whatsoever Time wouldn’t have put her on the list.

I don’t get sticking an entire cast onto the People list though (besides the fact that I’m not very fond of Gossip Girls), the show isn’t exactly the big hit it was supposed to be for the CW. Seeing I’ve only ever seen two episodes of the show I don’t actually know how big Taylor Momsen’s role is. I can also imagine that being put on there as a group must suck a bit, they’d probably prefer to be on there on their own. This way there isn’t that much attention on them.

As for Vanessa Hudgens; besides High School Musical not everything she has done has been mega-successful. I’m not saying that she doesn’t have a career outside of it, she just wouldn’t be as big without it. Though I guess that image is also a large part in the People list, so that’s probably why she’s on there.

There are bound to be some other people on it as well, so I might get back to it at a later date (So when the list is actually published, so why even bother with it now? Well, I need something to write about).
