Starletviews.com is being put on hiatus for several reasons.

For one the current news content is pityful, there simply is no or very little news to report on. It isn’t that strange with as small a news portion to draw from one but still. Though today there actually would be something to post about but I’m not going to bother with it now, it’s not going to last anyway. In principle there would be “news” actually but lowering the site to a gossip level is out of the question. There are enough of those idiot sites around the internet.

That is also part of the problem really; people only care about short news and pictures. The sites in this segment that are successful usually consists of mostly posting pictures, videos or very short news articles. That however was never the idea behind Starletviews.com and never will be. The site could be back in time, it actually will stay online there just won’t be any new posts. Unless there really is something good to write an editorial about or maybe a CD review here and there but the news is something that I won’t bother with right now.

It was a long shot to start a site/blog like this with the internet to have meaningful content. The target audiences of sites like this don’t really respond well to long articles but I hoped that could be changed. People also care more about gossip and people being hateful on sites like Perez Hilton than reading honest opinions without a hidden agenda.

Another reason for the hiatus is that there are simply more important projects to me now, the visitor numbers on Starletviews.com aren’t exactly a motivation to keep going. It never really got a lot of hits which I’m still somewhat sad about. I don’t actually expect the number of visitors to go down even if the site is on hiatus seeing the new posts were the ones getting the least hits.

So the site might return sooner or later, it depends on a lot of factors. Right now however it is on hiatus.

There was some downtime for Starletviews.com due to a failed software update. This means the site was offline for about ten hours, our apologies for the inconvenience.

The site is now back to the old software version.

Something that wasn’t planned at first has now been done anyway; Starletlinks.com was redesigned. The basic structure of the site has remained but it still looks different with new graphics.

So why the change? With the redesign of Starletviews.com the site just didn’t match the look of Starletlinks.com. The two sites now look different but still look related.

The starletviews.com RSS-feed on starletlinks.com has been replaced by a new one. Instead of the mediocre php script which didn’t even manage to display apostrophes properly it’s now handled through feedburner. It might be an externally hosted script but why do something yourself if someone else can do it better? It’s also a google product so it’s not really slowing the page down. The feed contains more information so people might be inclined to click through more, though the feed was moved to the bottom of the page.

The list of people featured on the site is slowly growing and is at 59 right now. There still might be more tweaks to the site but they won’t be as noticeable.

The redesign has been tested in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Safari. If you still encounter problems please let us know.

Not that we’ve been flooded by email over the last couple of months but I still want to point out that we changed our email address. The old address contacter@starletlinks.com will remain active but the main new email address will now be starletcontact@gmail.com.

Why switch to a free email server? There seem to be some reliability issues with the spam filters on the Godaddy (where starletlinks.com and starletviews.com are hosted) email servers at times. This way it’s also easier for other people to check the inbox of starletviews.com.
