Scarlett is Married

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

It’s a sad sad day for a lot of single men; Scarlett Johansson got married. That’s what People says anyway and they usually get this sort of thing right. Scarlett and Ryan Reynolds got married in Canada (that’s where Ryan is from originally) in a quiet ceremony.

Despite Scarlett now being off the market (her only being engaged before still gave some people hope) we wish the couple all the best.

Scarlett is engaged

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Ryan Reynolds has proposed to Scarlett Johansson and she has said yes; so now the couple is engaged; a date hasn’t been set yet. They had been dating for a little over a year.

So this is the end for all the people that had their hopes set on one day marrying Scarlett Johansson (though I know that not all marriages last, especially in Hollywood). I doubt this will make people less interested in her though, plenty of sex appeal left, even if she will be married.

There were rumours like that long ago but those were bogus, just because they’re engaged now doesn’t mean those gossip sites got it right back then.

Scarlett’s first music video

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Scarlett Johansson has released her first music video onto the internet. It’s for the song Falling Down from her first album Anywhere I Lay My Head, just like most of the songs it’s a cover of Tom Waits song. The backup vocals are by David Bowie, you can see the video here.

To be completely honest; I’m disappointed. Yes I know that it was never going to be a mainstream album but that’s not why I didn’t like it. The entire song just sounds slightly off-key, her voice just doesn’t sound good in it. Of course she doesn’t have a standard singing voice and I’m actually glad they didn’t clean it up too much in editing but it just doesn’t do it for me. As for the music video itself it fits the song somewhat with a more or less artsy (though that term seems to be open to interpretation looking at the past couple of days) dreamy atmosphere.Don’t get me wrong; I absolutely adore Scarlett. Until today I regret not knowing that she was shooting a movie here in town. I’m aware of the fact that Scarlett never intended this thing to be a big seller; I just hope that the rest of her album will be better.

Who makes the most money?

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

Forbes Magazine released its “The 20 Top-Earning Young Superstars” this week, which basically focuses on the stars under 25 and look at how much they make. The top earners are pro-athletes so they’re of no real interest to us. In our field of interest the list pretty much starts at number five with the Olsen Twins earning $17 million each, though they didn’t actually make any money of their career in movies but of their production and clothing company.

Hilary Duff is ranked 7th with an income of $12 million, Keira Knightley is 10th with $9 million, Scarlett Johansson is 12th with $5 million, Mischa Barton is 13th with $4.5 million, Dakota Fanning is 14th with $4 million, Emma Watson is 15th with $4 million, Miley Cyrus is 17th with $3.5 million, Lindsay Lohan is 18th with $3.5 million and Mandy Moore is 19th with $3.5 million.

I just wonder, how does Forbes know what they make? I am in no position to claim that they’re wrong but income is just something that people don’t really like to talk about. Endorsement deals are also something companies tend to be vague about.

Especially looking at the example of Miley Cyrus I think she actually make considerably more than $3.5 million. In her case I just think it’s hard to keep track of everything she makes money on, seeing she makes a cut of all Hannah Montana merchandise and there’s a lot of that stuff out there. I also think she makes a fair some of money of her fan site mileyworld.com, despite the negative press. They do mention her concert tour but it seems like they’re pushing that back to next year. Which is probably explained by the timing, if they don’t count November until next year then the number is probably quite realistic. For next year the number should go up quite a bit.

Lindsay Lohan proves that even with going to rehab twice, getting DUI’s and pretty much just messing up you can still make $3.5 million a year. Though that number might have been considerably higher if she had been in successful movies.

I would really like to know where they get their numbers though.
