Kirsten Dunst in All Good Things

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Kirsten Dunst has signed on to star in the murder mystery All Good Things. Her co-stars will be Ryan Gosling, Frank Langell and Jeffrey Dean. Details on the plot haven’t been released yet, the budget for the movie is about $20 million. The movie will be released by the Weinstein Company and shooting will start next month.

To be honest I completely missed the news that Kirsten Dunst got out of rehab though I figured that she has been out. People don’t stay in rehab for that long usually. With anyone coming out of rehab they have pretty much to rescue their career, but it’s a good thing that she’s still being signed on to work.

Whether this will be a good movie or not is something I don’t know. This is the first feature film for the writer/producer/director Andrew Jarecki, he has only had experience with documentaries so far. So that’s another thing we’ll have to wait and see about, could turn out good and it could turn out bad. The Weinstein Company at least thinks the project is good enough to put a lot of money into.

Kirsten Dunst is in rehab

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Kirsten Dunst has checked into the Cirque Lodge rehab facility in Utah (the same place Lindsay Lohan checked into last year). Why exactly isn’t certain just that it’s for addictions. That’s usually the reason why people go to rehab. It’s not something the general public could have expected really, it’s not like she was always seen drunk or under the influence in public like others (not as much as others anyway, she’s been seen drunk once in a while). It also doesn’t seem to have influenced her work at all.

Anyway we wish her all the best and a fast recovery.

Edition 34: Falling Starlets 2007

Friday, December 7th, 2007

As promised last week here’s the list of falling starlets of 2007. So mainly the people that have been going down on the Hollywood ladder. I’m fairly certain that there will be more people that disagree witht his one than with the Rising Starlets 2007 list from last week. The premise is the same in this case though, these views are only based on one opinion and that’s mine. I could of course be completely wrong and some of them might have dozens of secret projects lined up. But looking at the current situation the list comes out as this:

Kirsten Dunst in Sweet Relief

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Kirsten Dunst has signed on to play Marla Ruzicka in the movie Sweet Relief; the movie is based on a true story. Ruzicka was a relief worker who was head of an organisation called Campaign for Innocent Victims of Conflict. Her main job was raising funds for the organisation; she got called in 2005 in a suicide car bombing in Baghdad. It’s quite uncertain what the exact nature of the story will be, all we know is that it ends in a suicide bombing.

This story probably sounds interesting to an actress because of the heroic nature of the person they would be portraying. The main problem I have with this movie is that it’s just a trend; right now it’s a hot item to make a movie about people active in Afghanistan and Iraq. With trendy movie subjects there usually are a couple of good ones and a lot of bad ones, it’s just hard to tell if this will be good or bad.

So it just depends on the quality of the movie whether this thing will be good for Kirsten’s career or not; right now it’s just far too early to tell. Though looking at her career right now the only main high points are the Spider-Man movies; besides that most of her recent movies can be considered flops.

Edition 17: The Bad Habit

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

Mischa Barton, Thora Birch, Kaley Cuoco, Elisha Cuthbert, Kirsten Dunst, Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley, Lindsay Lohan, Jena Malone, Mandy Moore, Hayden Panettiere, Natalie Portman, Brittany Snow and Michelle Trachtenberg. Those are the names linked on starletlinks.com that are proven to be smokers. This means that of the names linked on the site in the age category over 16, 35% smokes. This is higher than the average in the normal population, the normal number for women in the United States is 22%.

Some things I have to say before going further into this is that these are the people that are proven to smoke. There might be others that do a very good job of hiding it. And of course I also don’t know how much these people smoke, they could be social smokers. But one thing is certain, they do smoke. Personally I think it’s a horrible habit; though I have personal reasons for that. But I don’t think any less of people that do smoke.

But why is the percentage of smokers so high in Hollywood? And why do they start so young? I think there are multiple reasons, I remember an interview with Shannon Doherty, she’s way past the starlet age but it does show a point. She once had to smoke in a role; she liked it so she kept doing it. I don’t know how often this happens but it shows it does happen.

At first she denied it but these days she can be spotted holding a cigarette quite frequently.
