Bad news for Kay Panabaker fans; Zip has not been picked up for the fall season. That’s always the risk when shooting pilots, you can never be certain whether a show is picked up or not. There is still a chance the show will make it to TV, NBC is still considering picking up the show midseason. So that would mean that the show could still be made but won’t be seen on TV until somewhere around February.

The official plot outline from NBC is as follows:

Trip Stringer loves his two kids. He also loves being a rich guy in Beverly Hills the only problem is he doesn’t have any money. But Trip is determined to fake it until he makes it. Living just inside the 90210 boundary so the kids can get a good education, Trip is always within striking distance of the Beverly Hills elite the people he will con on his way up the economic ladder. With the aid of his loyal protege, Hugo, Trip will confront Russian gangsters, Texan thieves, Chinese tourists and parenthood with equal resolve on his quest to become the next great American success story.” Cast: Steven Weber as Trip Singer, Kay Panabaker as Ellie, Bernardo De Paula as JP, Troy Gentile as Nelson. I’m still not sure if the show would really work, it’s something we would have to wait and see for until February or maybe never.

About a year ago I wrote about how pitiful a lot of the official websites for the people linked on starletlinks.com are. So I took a look at the sites a year later and also looked at other ones; there is good news and bad news.

Lets start with the bad examples of last year, it’s always best to start with the bad news. LLrocks.com, Lindsay Lohan’s official site still hasn’t received a single update. A last update on the 27th February 2005 was bad enough last year now it’s even worse, I can’t even imagine how little they care about her web presence. Yes of course she has more important things to take care off, she has to try and rebuild her career but a good web presence could be a sign to people that she really is serious about it. Though the Lohan family doesn’t take the internet serious anyway, they’re trying to launch Aliana Lohan’s career but her site is probably even worse than Lindsay’s, no information there whatsoever.

Another site that hasn’t received a single update in the past year is Abigail Breslin’s site. Just like last year it still mentions that she’s nominated for an Academy Award, this time last year we already know she didn’t win it. Looking at the website of Sofia Vassilieva who’s now Abigails co-star in My Sister’s Keeper it’s even worse. Not a single update in about seven years on a website for a girl that’s just fifteen. So her site hasn’t been updated for pretty much half her life, not the mention the very old school internet background music on the site. They don’t have to be active on the internet themselves, that might cause more trouble than it’s worth. But they should remember that they have a fanbase that does go online, they care and don’t like things like this. A good web presence shows that a celebrity cares about their fans, of course it doesn’t mean that Sofa and Abigail don’t but it’s not that big an effort.

The writers strike hasn’t completely killed pilot season as they call it, they’re still busy producing new shows for the fall season. Kay Panabaker has signed on to star in a pilot called zip; it’s about a guy (Steven Webber) with no money in Beverly Hills who schemes his way to a glamarous lifestyle for himself and his children. Kay will be playing the oldest daughter of the family.

It seems like Kay is focusing on TV right now with only a couple of small (some of which are just horrible but it’s not really her fault) and independent movies she’s doing inbetween. It’s not a bad thing of course, Kay does more than just acting she also goes to college so I guess she chooses projects she can do in between.

As for the show concept itself, it depends on the execution. A concept like this can turn out good and it can turn out bad, we’ll just have to wait and see how the pilot turns out.

Kay Panabaker has signed on to star in the pilot for a new ABC Family sitcom named Happy Campers. Her main co-stars are Beth Littleford and French Stewart (best known for 3rd Rock From the Sun). The story deals with the experiences of a family going on a cross-country road trip.

I have to say that it’s a bit weird timing to start shooting a pilot next week; seeing the WGA is on strike right now. As for this career move by Kay Panabaker I don’t quite get it, she seemed to have focused on movies lately. She’s been getting good reviews for Moondance Alexendar from critics.

Of course being an ABC Family sitcom it will only have a limited audience; seeing not everyone can get ABC Family. Their shows usually are quite good quality though, in a lot of cases the shows are only made to last one season. So it might not be that bad after all, also her sister Danielle is having some success on TV now though that’s on one of the major networks.

But I’m sure Kay knows what she’s doing, she’s a smart girl after all.

It’s quite common for siblings to be in the entertainment business. The same is true for the younger generation; people can probably notice that some people on starletlinks.com and starletviews.com share the same last name. This is of course because they’re sisters. Though it makes you wonder, who will have the bigger career in the end. So basically who is the most talented even though shear talent doesn’t always seem to be enough.

On starletlinks.com there are two main sister pares featured; Dakota and Elle Fanning are probably the best known ones right now. Dakota is four years older than Elle, that doesn’t really mean she works more though. While Dakota is in the spot light more than her little sister; Elle manages to pull of more movies a year than Dakota. Though I would have to add that a lot of the roles Elle does are smaller, supporting roles instead of starring roles. However she works with experienced actors like Denzel Washington and Brad Pitt, a perfect learning ground.

The fact that Dakota is in the spotlight more might help Elle in the end, she can stay in the background and slowly learn the trade. While Dakota might very well get stuck with the stigma of child star forever; Elle will probably have less of a problem with that. If I had to judge on pure talent I’m not certain actually, I have some movies with Elle and Dakota but not quite enough to form a definite opinion. Right now there isn’t that much of a difference between them I would say, though as I said I rate Elle’s chances in the long run higher.
