The Razzie nominations are in

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

I Know Who Killed Me is leading the Razzie nominations for 2007, the Razzie awards are always handed out prior to the Oscars to the worst performances in movies. I Know Who Killed Me has been nominated a total of nine times for Worst Screen Couple, Horror Movie, Screenplay, Director, Remake/Rip-Off, Supporting Actress, Actress (twice) and Picture.

This means that Lindsay Lohan was nominated twice for the same movie; seeing she played two characters. Other starlets nominated are Jessica Alba (for Awake, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Good Luck Chuck), Elisha Cuthbert (for Captivity) and Jessica Biel (for I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry and Next). Lindsay is even nominated as the worst screen couple, that must be a first for the razzies, one person nominated as a couple.

Their nomination system is a bit odd, seeing Lindsay was nominated for one movie twice and Jessica Alba was nominated once for three movies. Though I Know Who Killed Me was an especially bad movie. So it wouldn’t be a shocker if she walked away with the razzie.

Though people rarely pick them up, so I don’t expect to see Lindsay there.

Jessica Biel in Easy Virtue

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Jessica Biel has been cast in Easy Virtue, a romantic comedy based on the Noel Coward play from 1924 with the same name. It’s an independent production by a British movie studio.

Jessica’s role is that of an American divorcee, Liarita Huntington; she travels to the South of France to marry a wealthy Englishman who’s played by Ben Barnes. After their return to England they’re faced by unapproval from his family.

British movies can be quite good though I’m not quite sure if this movie will be set in the current time or in the time the play was written. It has quite an impressive cast actually with people like Colin Firth and Kristin Scott Thomas also being in it.

This most certainly won’t be a big box office movie but that’s more due to the small production scale. For Jessica it’s probably a good movie to also experience the European movie industry, broadening your horizon is always a good thing.

Jessica Biel to star in and produce Die a Little

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

The Hollywood Reporter reports (what else would they do with that name) that Jessica Biel will star in the crime thriller Die a Little. The movie is based on the novel Die written by Megan Abbott. It’s a story about a schoolteacher and her brother who’s an LAPD detective whose life is turned upside down by a beautiful mysterious woman played by Jessica. The script will be written by Marcia and Geoffrey Blake who both had more experience as actors than as writers so far. Jessica herself will be co-producing the movie.

This is the first time that Jessica Biel will be producing a movie; together with the fact that it’s a movie written by two people that aren’t known for their writing and that it’s a novel adaptation make me doubt this project. A book adaptation is a hard thing to do; they have to find the right tone to do justice to the novel.

So this will be a real challenge for Jessica, if she can pull it off this might a good movie there just are a lot of things that can wrong. If she wants to produce she just has to take the plunge at some point and why not start out with a challenge.

Edition 2: The Travesty Called Official Websites

Friday, April 20th, 2007

You would think that in this day of age with all its technology that the younger generations of celebrities would go with the trend of everything being interactive. But apparently this isn’t the case; taking a look at the average official celebrity website tells the whole story.

Taking a look at the links list on starletlinks.com already tells you one thing; a lot of young celebrities don’t even have an official website. And I’m not counting myspace pages because for me those don’t really count, it’s rather effortless to set up one of those.

Taking a browse through the pages that are linked get from bad to worse. Take llrocks.com for example; Lindsay Lohan’s official website. To start of with you get a small intro with a single from her newest single from the album Speak. Call me crazy but I could have sworn her last album released was called a Little More Personal. When you go further into the site it doesn’t get any better, the last update is from November 27th 2005. The design in general is very outdated and the info on the site is of course outdated as well. And leaving the journal section online is just pitiful, seeing the last entry is from October 15th 2003. It just shows that Lindsay and her management don’t seem to care about their online presence. So there was an effort at one point but there just isn’t any anymore.

New single? Maybe two years ago.
