The Razzie nominations are in

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

I Know Who Killed Me is leading the Razzie nominations for 2007, the Razzie awards are always handed out prior to the Oscars to the worst performances in movies. I Know Who Killed Me has been nominated a total of nine times for Worst Screen Couple, Horror Movie, Screenplay, Director, Remake/Rip-Off, Supporting Actress, Actress (twice) and Picture.

This means that Lindsay Lohan was nominated twice for the same movie; seeing she played two characters. Other starlets nominated are Jessica Alba (for Awake, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Good Luck Chuck), Elisha Cuthbert (for Captivity) and Jessica Biel (for I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry and Next). Lindsay is even nominated as the worst screen couple, that must be a first for the razzies, one person nominated as a couple.

Their nomination system is a bit odd, seeing Lindsay was nominated for one movie twice and Jessica Alba was nominated once for three movies. Though I Know Who Killed Me was an especially bad movie. So it wouldn’t be a shocker if she walked away with the razzie.

Though people rarely pick them up, so I don’t expect to see Lindsay there.

Jessica Alba is pregnant

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

People magazine has revealed that Jessica Alba has confirmed that she’s pregnant. The father of the child is her boyfriend Cash Warren.

This pretty much means the end of Jessica Alba on Starletviews.com; seeing a 26 year old mother can’t really be considered a starlet anymore. Not that it’s a bad thing that she’s pregnant; in the end family is still more important than a career so we wish her all the best of course.

Jessica Biel gets nailed

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Jessica Biel has been signed to co-star along Jack Gyllenhaal in the movie Nailed. It’s a political satire co-written by one of Al Gore’s daughters Kristen Gore (who’s a novelist and used to be a writer for the Fox show Futurama).

Jessica will play the role of Sammy Joyce, a socially awkward receptionist who gets shot in the head with a nail gun by a clumsy workman. The injury causes her to get wild sexual urges. She doesn’t have insurance so she goes on a crusade to Washington to fight for the rights of people with bizarre injuries. An immoral congressman played by Gyllenhaal takes advantage of her unstoppable sex drive and uses her crusade in Washington to further his own political career.

It’s not 100% sure she will play the role; even though she has committed to it, there is no signed contract yet and it might depend on other roles she has planned.

The story sounds weird enough to actually work; this is an independent movie it seems so people shouldn’t be expecting a major block buster. I always liked the show Futurama so the movie might be very enjoyable. It never hurts a career to do a independent movie once in a while.

And The Winners Are……

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

The Teen Choice Awards were handed out this week and of course some of the starlets were nominated.

tca.jpg

The big winner was Sophia Bush who won the awards for Choice Movie Actress Comedy and Thriller and breakout female. Miley Cyrus won the awards for Choice TV Actress Comedy and Summer Artists. Jessica Alba won it for Female Hotty, America Ferrera for Breakout TV Actress, Vanessa Hudgens for Breakout Music Artists and Keira Knightley for Choice Movie Actress Action/Adventure.

These awards are complete and total nonsense. I never had faith in internet votes but now even less, there are only a couple of awards I can live with. Nobody can say that Vanessa Hudgens is the best new music artists this year; it just means her fans were the ones that had the most spare time to vote a lot. They rarely IP check this kind of vote, and if they do they often allow several votes per IP.

And what even is the award for Favourite Summer Artist? That category is just too vague to judge. High School Musical 2 even won the award for Choice TV movie, the weird thing just is that the movie aired long after voting started. So it was nominated before anyone ever saw the movie, that shouldn’t be possible. Fox just knew that it would be hot around the time the Teen Choice Awards air, so it was just for ratings.

This whole thing just strengthens my belief that internet votes are pointless.

Edition 13: It’s Still A Business

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Of all the movies I’ve seen, of all the celebs who have graced the cover of magazines, none of them have stood out quite like Jessica Alba. But as the years have gone on, she seems to have to defend her acting ability. Countless news sites, bloggers, and reporters have all claimed she has inferior acting abilities, and is only where she is because of good looks. To that I say, “So What?” At the end of the day Hollywood is still a huge industry, and simple business principles still apply.

Everyone with half a brain in their head knows that sex sells, its Marketing 101. What most people don’t realize is that the sex thing is just the beginning. In order to be successful in any line of work, you either need to be incredibly talented, or be able to use smoke and mirrors to get what you want. Jessica has done the latter. She is not the most talented, nor the best looking, but her career has skyrocketed. She’s one of the most sought after young celebs in the world, and she’s managed to do it all without a tidal wave of negative press. What Jessica has managed to do is create a name, image, and market for herself even though she lacks some of the qualities needed to be a good actress. Now that is good business.

Jessica Alba Kickin Ass
