Hayden in Daydream Nation

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Hayden Panettiere has been signed to star in the “coming of age” comedy Daydream Nation. Favourite to co-star with her in the movie is Kieran Culkin. The script was written by Michael Goldback who will also direct the movie. As of yet there are no real details about the plot, it’s an independent movie production.

This movie is too vague to really judge it but when a producer already says that they want to make an intellectual comedy a la Juno I think they’re already overdoing it. Juno was an unexpected hit, so it’s a bit overly ambitious to say they’re aiming for that kind of thing.

At least she won’t be playing a cheerleader in this movie it seems, though that’s not even certain.

A cheerleader once again

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

After playing a cheerleader on Bring it On: All or Nothing and being a cheerleader on Heroes; it looks like Hayden Panettiere is going to be a cheerleader once again. She’s set to star in the movie I Love You, Beth Cooper.

The movie will be based on a novel by Larry Doyle, who’s a former writer for the Simpsosn. Hayden’s character would be Beth, the hottest cheerleader at the school. She’s giving the valedictorian Denis Cooverman the night of his life after he confesses his love to her in his graduation speech.

Hayden has to cut down on the cheerleader roles, otherwise she’s going to be known as a cheerleader forever.

Hayden is in trouble

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

E!Online reports that Hayden Panettiere has learned that she has a warrant out for her arrest in Japan. For the people that look for the bad in celebrities you’re out of luck; she’s not wanted for a DUI or anything like that.

On October 30th she and a group of activists went out on surfboards and tried to stop a group of fishermen who were going to slaughter a pod of dolphins. They weren’t able to stop them because before they could reach them they were stopped by one of the Japanese fishing boats. After the incident she and her fellow activists went straight to Osaka and left the country. Now the Japanese police apparently put out a warrant for Hayden’s arrest.

I can’t imagine this will have a lot of consequences; though there technically is a chance of jail time I doubt even the Japanese will bother with this. If they decide to punish her anyway all she has to do is stay out of Japan, I bet she could live with that.

As for activism like that I always I have my doubts about it, the act itself doesn’t usually serve the purpose of stopping the massacre; it’s just one event. The main purpose is getting attention to the cause, of course Japan is still sticking some traditions that are a debatable. It will take time to convince the Japanese that they’ll stop hunting for things like dolphins and whales.

You have to admire Hayden that she’s willing to take risks like that though, even though it might seem foolish.

Edition 30: The stuff people search for on the internet 2

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Lets take a look again at the keywords that are used to get to starletviews.com. After I took a look at it I can just wonder one thing: What’s wrong with you people? I know that writing about this will get me just as many weird visitors again but oh well here we go.

The last time I talked about the keywords it were mostly people looking for evidence of nine to fifteen year old girls smoking. This time the focus seems to be more on their bodies. A while ago I wrote the editorial Sex Symbol at 14; mentioning words like nip slip and cleavage in the process. Normally I wouldn’t really care about that; the likes of Lindsay Lohan have had several nip slips and also tend to show some cleavage. The thing is people don’t really seem to look for that kind of stuff or starletviews.com is just too low in the search indexes for that.

The top key phrase in the last couple of weeks was “Miley Cyrus cleavage”; well fine people you found it, happy now?

Another Weird List

Friday, September 28th, 2007

US Magazine has put out another one of those quite weird lists, this time the 2007 Hot Hollywood Power Players. I’ve questioned the use of rankings before but in this one I really wonder what their ranking criteria are.

jamie1.jpg

Focussing on the younger women on the list we can see Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Amanda Bynes and Jamie Lynn Spears. They also included the Cast of Heroes (which makes the list even stranger) which also includes Hayden Panettiere. The Heroes show will lose a lot of support this year I think, the show seems to be overhyped a bit right now. So not that Hot Hollywood at the end of this year I think.

I can understand why they put Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens on the list; they’re having a good run with the younger crowd right now. Amanda Bynes is on there because of the success of Hairspray and because she is completely scandal free which the press likes these days.

Why put Jamie Lynn Spears on the list? Her sister isn’t exactly helping with her problems; she herself even had a pregnancy scare. The only thing she has going right now is her TV show Zoey 101, besides that she isn’t really doing anything. Compared to other shows on TV the show isn’t doing that great, if you compare it to her competition on that list she loses by a mile to Miley Cyrus. I really wouldn’t rate her as a power player.

I’m just starting to think they put this list together so they could invite these people to a party. If you put them on a list like that you’ll have a bigger chance of them coming than just inviting them. I can’t see any concrete criteria to how these girls were ranked in that list.
