Emmy Rossum in Dare

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Emmy Rossum has signed up to star in the independent movie Dare. The movie is about three privileged high school students who ignore their deepest needs and take the biggest risks in their lives. The movie is based on a short film by writer David Brind and director Adam Salky who will also make the long version. The movie will be shot in Phildadelphia.

She’s done shooting the Dragonball movie now so she needs a new project. She’s one of those actresses that doesn’t star in a lot of movies, she hasn’t been in that many independent movies in recent years. So this project can’t really hurt, the short film actually has a good rating.

Some movies being delayed

Monday, March 10th, 2008

What was to be expected is happening, movies are being pushed back due to the writer’s strike. Even though the strike is over now its effect can still be felt. The two main movies of interest to this site being pushed back are Dragonball (Emmy Rossum) and the Hannah Montana Movie (Miley Cyrus and Emily Osment). Both are being pushed back to 2009.

the Hannah Montana Movie is now expected to be released on the 1st of May 2009 while Disney was hoping for a late 2008 release. They plan to start shooting the movie in April now. This delay was to be expected seeing production started before the strike.

With Dragonball however it’s a bit strange if you ask me, most of the actors signed on to the project were signed during the strike. The movie is now expected to be released on the 3rd of April 2009.

Emmy Rossum has a new project

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

It took her a while but Emmy Rossum has finally signed up to another movie project. After her pretty much flopped debut as a singer she’s now going to join the cast of the live action adaptation of the Japanese comic and manga TV show Dragonball. She joins a cast that already contains Eriko Tamura, Joon Park (former Korean pop singer), Justin Chatwin, James Marsters and Jamie Chung.

Even though it’s a new project I don’t have very high hopes for the project, Dragonball Z is one of the few manga’s that made it into mainstream. That’s probably the main reason why they’re making a movie out of it but it also improves the chances for it to flop. You can’t get more critical than a Manga fan audience.

Edition 34: Falling Starlets 2007

Friday, December 7th, 2007

As promised last week here’s the list of falling starlets of 2007. So mainly the people that have been going down on the Hollywood ladder. I’m fairly certain that there will be more people that disagree witht his one than with the Rising Starlets 2007 list from last week. The premise is the same in this case though, these views are only based on one opinion and that’s mine. I could of course be completely wrong and some of them might have dozens of secret projects lined up. But looking at the current situation the list comes out as this:

Emmy Rossum releases her first music video

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

We all know that a lot of actresses have albums out; I’ve known for a while that Emmy Rossum was coming out with one. Her album Inside Out will be released on October 23rd.

Now her first video Slow Me Down has been put on the internet by Universal (click here to see the video). I must say I’m quite surprised; the main problem with music lately that it’s all a bit the same, it’s all pretty much standard pop. Emmy Rossum doesn’t seem to be going that way.

If I had to name a successful singer with a similar sound I would have to say it’s closest to Irish singer and songwriter Enya. I think the genre is sometimes described as dream pop (that’s what they call it on wikipedia anyway) which is a quite accurate description.

Her first video isn’t actually half bad music wise, for the genre I just think that there’s too much happening in the video. Though I think the video with its fast changing images is mostly there to reflect the subject of the song. So I can only applaud Emmy’s move into the music industry, she doesn’t seem to be doing it just for cash. This kind of music usually isn’t the biggest seller, if she just went into music to sell records she would have gone for pop or R&B. I would have to hear the whole of the records to form a definite opinion but she got my hopes up.
