Jailbait: a girl under the age of consent with whom sexual intercourse is unlawful and constitutes statutory rape.
So who’s worth it going to jail for? Here’s our top ten. (more…)
It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these so it’s just that time again; what kind of strange things are people looking for on the internet? How search engines work is quite simple, it looks for certain keywords within a page and it will display those as search results when someone searches for those keywords in a search engine. There are a lot of search engines but for this purpose we’re only going to look at the results from google that brought people to this page. Simply because it’s the biggest and we’re only focusing on the period of July, August and October so we can look at changes.
TMZ had a story out saying that Miley Cyrus and her father Billy Ray are trying to get fired from Hannah Montana by showing up late to set and brag about that she will get fired. This all supposedly is because Billy Ray convinced her that there is more money in a music career than being on a cable TV show. It also comes with reports of Emily Osment being in a fight with Miley and Billy Ray getting into arguments with Emily’s dad (though a while back there were also rumors about Emily trying to get fired from Hannah Montana).
This all comes from the ever popular “source” on set. Now I can’t disprove anything of this but I just try to use logic when hearing rumors like this. Sometimes rumors like this are true but there are just too many things that don’t make sense; that’s just besides TMZ trying to destroy Miley’s career since she’s become popular.
Yesterday both Miley and Disney released statements on the rumors, here are some quotes from that thanks to People.
I am fully committed to Hannah Montana. It’s what gave me this amazing opportunity to reach out to so many people, I couldn’t do it alone. We have an amazing cast that is so supportive, including my dad who has been there for me every step of the way. (Miley)
Miley is really devoted to the show and she’s really upset by the gossip, Miley is never late to work. Every minute of her day is planned out. When she’s not shooting the movie or the series, she’s recording the [Hannah Montana] soundtrack. She has a lot invested in Hannah Montana. It’s not going away any time soon. (Disney)
Now let me first point out that I’m not sure whether it’s a good idea for them to release statements on these rumors. What happens is that (it already happened actually) that people (the obvious gossip sites) turn this into they’re trying to hide something and combining it with old statements from Miley.
Disney again stated that they have an option for a fourth statement which is then countered by Miley having said that season three might be the last season. The thing is we don’t know in what context she said it; just because Miley would want Hannah Montana to end it doesn’t mean that she’s trying to get fired or that she wouldn’t do a fourth season.
But those statements don’t actually really matter; lets just apply logic and look at a couple of things why it wouldn’t make sense for Miley and Billy Ray to try and get fired.
The dumbest made up quote (it must be made up, I don’t see any other way) comes from a “production staffer” in the Chicago Sun Times which states:
Things are so chilly between Emily and Miley, icicles form every time they have to speak to one another, it’s become increasingly clear Miley has become jealous of Emily’s rising profile and popularity.
On what planet? Don’t get me wrong, I like Emily but you can’t exactly call movies like Soccer Mom a rising profile. Quite the opposite actually. If anything I think Miley would be happy for Emily if she got more success; that’s what friends do, they enjoy someone else success. Of course they can get jealous but not if Miley is still ten times more popular than Emily.
As I said, I can’t disprove that there are problems on the Hannah Montana set; I don’t pretend to have sources there like some people do. Just plain logic leads me to the conclusion that nothing is going on. It’s just another step in the process of trying to drag Miley down; wouldn’t be the first time. Of course I’ll have to eat my words if this turns out to be true but I just don’t think it is.
Every couple of years Disney releases its classic movies in a new package. With blu-ray it’s obvious that all of them come out again and now it’s the turn of Sleeping Beauty. They also put some extras on the discs, one of them being a new soundtrack for the movie.
They let Emily Osment take care of it and also did a music video for it. Seeing this is quite a standard music video there isn’t that much you can say about it. The song Once Upon a Dream itself is also quite standard but performed well by Emily, I’m still awaiting Emily to announce a record deal. Seeing she’s been doing this sort of thing quite regularly for Disney lately and doing a good job of it; Hollywood Records isn’t sleeping is it? We know she’s trying to write her own music and I would be more interested in that looking at her music interests.
As I said, the music video is also quite standard but that doesn’t make it bad. There of course is the movie footage mixed into it and the rest is just Emily performing really. Yes I know I recently burned Demi Lovato a bit for just doing a video where she performs but at least this isn’t just a performance. They also did some green screen animated work with Emily for this one, so it seems that Disney actually put more production effort into this video than into Demi’s; which seems incredibly odd to me.

If I counted correctly that’s 57 awards, a bit much if you ask me. Some categories seem a bit redundant. Can’t say that I can argue with the results the list is too long for that really, though they were decided by online vote and people were allowed to vote every day. At least it was Fox who decided on the nominees and not like MTV did also have an online vote for the VMA’s which resulted in probably the worst nominees list for any award show I’ve ever seen.
I might get back to the TCA’s once I’ve seen the show but for now people will have to do with the results.
