Danielle Panabaker is a Prodigy

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Danielle Panabaker has signed on to be the female lead in the sci-fi action movie Prodigy. The story synopsis from the Hollywood Reporter is as follows:

“Prodigy” centers on an elite prep school that promises to turn teenagers into geniuses through a drug-and-diet regimen for a half-million-dollar tuition. When several alumni turn up dead, the school’s valedictorian is assigned to investigate the murders, leading him to a rebellious student.

Panabaker plays the brilliant daughter of a senator who begins to question the powers that be.

The only other cast member that is known so far is Max Theriot who plays the rebellious student. The screenplay was written by the author of the novel; Dave Kalstein. Shooting will start in October in Spain.

Not sure about this project for Danielle; the thing with sci-fi movies is that they’re usually either brilliant or they plainly suck. I’m also not quite sure how much of an action movie you can do in a movie where the main characters are teenagers. Though Danielle is getting a steady stream of work, which is a good thing even if it’s not always in the biggest projects. Whether this will be a good movie only time will tell, I sure like the sound of this project more than Friday the 13th.

Shark is canceled

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

I missed this little bit of news through all show renewals, pick-ups and cancellations (I really have to get used to the new layout on the Hollywoodreporter.com). CBS canceled the show Shark starring James Woods, though the person of interest to this site is Danielle Panabaker who is on the show as well.

It’s too bad for Danielle but I somewhat understand it, I used to watch the show but somewhere in the middle of season two it just become boring really. I don’t know what the ratings were like but I can’t imagine they were good.

My guess would be is that Danielle will now continue on in movies. Her part on the show wasn’t that major despite being the second name on the credits. In some episodes she even barely disappeared so as a long term project it probably wouldn’t have been that worthwhile for her anyway. Now she’s busy shooting Friday the 13th though I’m not really fond of that project.

Making movies is dangerous

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

Shooting movies can be hazardous to your health it seems. While shooting Friday the 13th there was some bloodshed when Danielle Panabaker got slightly inujured as the producer of the movie reports on his blog:

Second episode of blood spilling claimed the lovely Danielle Panabaker. She, of an easy smile and easygoing spirit, commits every time, especially in scenes that require full speed running. Last night we were shooting a scene where Travis Van Winkle and Danielle are running full speed down a narrow hall, they got tangled up and Danielle’s chin collided with the hard edge of the window sill leaving her down for the count. She was out cold for a minute with a bloody chin… she’s a tough girl and was willing to come back the next day to shoot, but we adjusted our schedule to accommodate her ailing chin.

So nothing major, just annoying to Danielle and it probably hurt a bit. Though if she was out for a minute it must have been quite a hit. I’m just hoping it doesn’t leave a scar, still not really looking forward to the movie really.

Danielle Panabaker in Friday the 13th

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Danielle Panabaker has been cast as the female lead in the remake of Friday the 13th. People will probably know or will have heard of the movie before so the plot doesn’t really need an introduction. Other people cast in the movie so far are Jonathan Sadowski, Travis van Winkle and Aaron Yoo.

I can’t even beging to describe what I think is a horrible move in Danielle’s career; besides the fact that horror movies bore me to hell and that I hate remakes. Recent horror remakes just rarely have had success, just because there are a couple of horror movies with success doesn’t mean all movies will. You can’t recycle old concepts into infinity.

Edition 46: Official websites; one year later

Friday, April 11th, 2008

About a year ago I wrote about how pitiful a lot of the official websites for the people linked on starletlinks.com are. So I took a look at the sites a year later and also looked at other ones; there is good news and bad news.

Lets start with the bad examples of last year, it’s always best to start with the bad news. LLrocks.com, Lindsay Lohan’s official site still hasn’t received a single update. A last update on the 27th February 2005 was bad enough last year now it’s even worse, I can’t even imagine how little they care about her web presence. Yes of course she has more important things to take care off, she has to try and rebuild her career but a good web presence could be a sign to people that she really is serious about it. Though the Lohan family doesn’t take the internet serious anyway, they’re trying to launch Aliana Lohan’s career but her site is probably even worse than Lindsay’s, no information there whatsoever.

Another site that hasn’t received a single update in the past year is Abigail Breslin’s site. Just like last year it still mentions that she’s nominated for an Academy Award, this time last year we already know she didn’t win it. Looking at the website of Sofia Vassilieva who’s now Abigails co-star in My Sister’s Keeper it’s even worse. Not a single update in about seven years on a website for a girl that’s just fifteen. So her site hasn’t been updated for pretty much half her life, not the mention the very old school internet background music on the site. They don’t have to be active on the internet themselves, that might cause more trouble than it’s worth. But they should remember that they have a fanbase that does go online, they care and don’t like things like this. A good web presence shows that a celebrity cares about their fans, of course it doesn’t mean that Sofa and Abigail don’t but it’s not that big an effort.
