Forbes releases all sorts of lists year round, now they released The Celebrity 100, which is a sort of ranking who’s the most famous person in the world. It’s a list they rank on pay of the celebrity, hits on the internet and mentions on TV and in the press.

The top three on that list Oprah Winfrey, Tiger Woods and Angelina Jolie. As people know that’s the focus of this website, there are not that many starlets on the list, only two. The highest ranked one is, who else, Miley Cyrus at number 34. Just beating out F1 world champion Kimi Raikkönen, that’s how random this list seems to people, athletes are mixed in with actors, singers or whatever thing you can be famous for. For Miley it’s mostly the number of web hits that pushes her that high.

Ashley Tisdale is the only other starlet on the list ranking in at number 94, beating out chef Gordon Ramsey by one spot. Seems like her main reason for being on the list is number of web hits as well. The dumb thing is that they can’t rank anyone so you can’t really compare them to people that aren’t on the list.

In general I don’t like covers (there are always exceptions), I think that people should just leave classic songs alone, the same goes for movies. I do know that most singers put one cover song on their albums so I can live with that. Now Ashley Tisdale has made the in all respect dumbest choice in cover song ever.

Ashley chose to cover the song Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley. There’s nothing wrong with the song itself but the fact that it’s the biggest joke on the internet is. The average internet user knows the term Rickrolled, you’re being fooled in watching a video of Rick Astley when they want to see something else. Youtube even did it on April 1st, all videos on their homepage led to the Rickrolled video.

There must have been at least one of her producers that knows this, it’s just a bad idea to cover the song that’s one of the biggest jokes on the internet. Not to mention the quality of the song is quite bad, people should know by now that I don’t like too much electronic fooling with vocals.

This thing is just clearly electronically altered, I still don’t know whether Ashley can actually sing; all her big live performances have all been lip syncs; which is a normal thing to do but I would like to see live once in a while and I’m sure she’s done live performances, I just haven’t seen them. There are others that can do the biggest TV performances live so why can’t she? This entire song comes from a computer actually, the music as well. I never see why it hurts to hire some live musicians to record music for a song.

There were rumors around that Ashley Tisdale got infected with HIV after a Rhinoplasty, of course we didn’t post anything about it and now of course the story has been proven false. A site (I don’t even know which one) even went so far to post a fake statement from the Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. People magazine got the following response from the hospital: “We absolutely did not issue a release.”

When is this making up bullshit stories about celebrities finally going to end? I know that reporting this is actually giving credit to the moron that came up with it but I have to say something. A story like this is not only hurtful to Ashley but also can damage the reputation of a hospital (I am aware that Cedars-Sinai has been involved in a scandal already this year but that doesn’t matter).

In all reality it simply shows any website reporting this doesn’t know how to do its job. Yes every website reports something incorrect once in a while, it happens to the best websites and even major news agencies have done it. It doesn’t hurt too much to actually use reliable sources and this story didn’t come from any reputable news source. If a website reports bullshit like this it makes me not want to read that website and I would think a website actually wants visitors.

This tendency of website just making up the worst possible stories to get attention is just sickening really.

Yes there will be a High School Musical 4 movie, the writing on the script has already started. Even before High School Musical 3 has finished shooting. So how can you write a sequel without having a fixed outcome to the previous movie yet? Simply put it’s not a sequel, so sorry for all the Tisdale, Efron, Hudgens and others fans, it’s unlikely that they’ll be part of the cast though it hasn’t been confirmed yet. Though you never know, a script can be rewritten; if the third movie is successful enough you never know.

As of yet it’s unknown whether it will be released in theatres or on TV, it will probably depend on the success of High School Musical 3 in theatres. I can’t really say whether this is a good idea or not, it would depend on the success of the third one. If it would be a flop chances are that the plug still might be pulled on the fourth one, though it’s doubtful it will flop looking at the success of the first two; the fanbase is big enough to support it. And Disney knows how to make money of something like this.

The WGA (Writers Guild of America) strike seems to be coming to an end now (it all seems to depend on a WGA meeting tomorrow), or who knows; once you read this it might be already over. But what kind of damage has it actually caused? Three months of strike don’t really go without consequence. We hear daily reports on how much money the movie industry has already lost this year.

I have to make clear that I support the writers (I’m trying to be one myself so I have to really), though I also understand the AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers). The main point of argument is the compensation for online content, so when they’ve made a TV show or movie and it’s also streamed on the internet. Of course the writers want to be paid for this but no one knows how the internet market will develop.

It’s a time where developments go really quickly, you can’t actually know how much money the internet content will make over the years. So it’s understandable that the studios were very hesitant, though pretty much paying them nothing at all is a bad idea when going into talks. At some times the strike got a bit silly though, there were some AMPTP and WGA mud slinging matches. (more…)
