Edition 54: Illegal Rumors

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Sometimes you really have to wonder about tabloid journalism. I can somewhat understand there being rumors once in a while; people for some reason want to read completely made up rumors and they actually enjoy it. In some cases however rumors simply don’t make sense; often rumors are based on quotes from interviews or random pictures. When you’re dealing with minors once in a while rumors come along that simply can’t be true because if they were true it would be illegal.

Lets take the rumor that popped up yesterday which started with a picture on X17 I believe; Ali Lohan has gotten breast implants. I have to admit, Ali has shown sudden growth in her chest department. Recently there were also rumors that she had her lips enhanced where again I have to admit that they seem bigger in pictures. Though clips from Living Lohan pretty much suggest to me that it has been achieved by wearing far too much make up. Though I can’t really blame people for believing the lip injection rumor.

There however are several things that make the breast implant rumor complete nonsense, the main one being she’s only fourteen years old. Before a plastic surgeon would operate on someone they would make sure that they’re fully grown. If a plastic surgeon would actually do it the moron would have to be thrown in jail and have his or her license pulled. (more…)

It Goes From Bad to Worse

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

There have been bad music videos in the past but what the Lohan family now considers a music video completely redefined bad music videos. Click here for Ali Lohan’s new “music video” (they don’t allow youtube embedding, makes me think even they know it’s just a joke) but if you ask me it isn’t even a music video.

It’s just a collection of Living Lohan clips with Ali Lohan’s All The Way Around as background music; the clips don’t even match the music. Honestly Ali’s attempt at a career is getting more pathetic by the day, if there’s so much interest in her why isn’t there any money to shoot a simple music video?

In all honesty I don’t think that many people actually have faith in her career, all she’s being cast in right now are straight to DVD projects (not sure whether Troll will be straight to DVD but it’s a possibility). If they continue with projects like this they might as well flush her career down the toilet before it even started.

update: As you might notice the youtube video isn’t working anymore. Only the Lohan’s can manage to get one of their own videos pulled due to copyright reasons. Though it wouldn’t be the first time that there are false claims to ownership on youtube. I suspect they didn’t quite take care of who has ownership of what.

A bit funny

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Usually not the thing I post about but it’s somewhat funny. When I posted about the Living Lohan episode yesterday I already questioned some of the things about the director. Things like him telling Ali Lohan that she should make it look delicious and the obvious boobage on her characters sketch.

Now it turns out that the guy sitting next to John Carl Buechler (the director) is Peter Davy who’s best known as a porn movie producer. He seems to have recently switched to more conventional movies though with little result so far.

You just have to wonder whether Dina Lohan knew about it or not, the general belief out there right now is she didn’t. So we’ll just have to see whether the project goes on or not though I wouldn’t see it as a reason not to be in the movie. It’s not like he would ask her to do anything illegal; he’s just the producer.

Living Lohan again

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

I haven’t written anything about Living Lohan in a while but I’m still watching it. Why? I honestly don’t know, I guess I need a good laugh once in a while. What’s funny to me is that the Lohan family is trying to prove that they’re a normal family but the entire thing is just so staged that it does the opposite of that. I have no idea what the Lohan family is like while watching this show.

This weeks episode dealt mainly with Ali Lohan auditioning for a role in the movie Troll. She got the part but it’s still not confirmed officially yet by either the Lohans or the people making it. I guess they still have to sort out certain things. But this episode made me lose what little belief I had in Ali ever making it big in Hollywood.

The main reason for this is that Ali goes into complaint/diva mode when Dina tells her that the audition is the day after she got the script. Ali might be right in saying that she needs time to prepare but she should realise that not every fourteen year old gets the chance to be invited to audition for a movie. If there is an opportunity then take it, there are thousands of girls that would jump at the chance.

That’s besides the point that I think it’s a horrible idea to take a role in this movie. It’s actually a remake of a movie from 1986 by the same name and the same director. It’s not exactly known as a good movie (looking at general reviews and ratings on big movie sites like imdb and rottentomatoes) though it probably fits best in the B-movie genre. I myself haven’t seen it but I don’t exactly get why someone would remake a movie that hasn’t exactly made tons of money in the past. Despite special effects being a lot better these days.

Something else that was very noticeable was during the audition when the director showed Ali a sketch of the character she would be playing. The sketch showed a girl with very big breasts. What director draws a character with a lot of focus on breasts and then asks a fourteen year old to audition for it? Though he also asked her to make it delicious during the audition.

Then again it would probably fit Ali looking at how she has been dressing on the show. She seems to like to wear outfits that squeeze her breasts together and also includes a lot of belly showing. She should dress the way she feels most comfortable in but in the public eye it might send the wrong message. I’m not a casting director so I can’t really say how she did during the audition, we obviously can’t see all of it.

In general I just think that Ali won’t make it because she doesn’t have the right attitude. She just complains too much on the show about whenever she has to do something for her own career, that’s the main impression the show has given me so far. As far as acting talent goes I just have no idea yet, seeing we’ve never seen her act. Well outside of Living Lohan anyway.

Not good enough Ali

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Last week we could already hear part of Ali Lohan’s first song, All The Way Around, as it was being recorded while she was shooting Living Lohan. At that time I wasn’t exactly convinced by the song and now that a higher quality clip of the song has appeared online I’m even less convinced. If people want to listen to it; it can be found through the usual method of searching for it on youtube.

When listening to it I get the distinct impression that it doesn’t sound the same as when it was being recorded. Pretty much meaning that the pitch of Ali’s voice was changed in editing. I would say she didn’t actually didn’t sound too bad voice wise so I don’t know why they did it. That doesn’t actually help the song seeing it’s pretty much mass produced crap.

The music going with the song hasn’t even heard of the word musical instrument as it comes straight from a computer. That in itself wouldn’t be a bad thing if it was actually good music. When recording this thing she just showed up and sang this thing; she didn’t actually have a role in creating it. There just isn’t any personal touch to it, it’s just a song that doesn’t mean anything. If Ali really wants to succeed in the music business she at least has to involve herself a little bit in the creating of the music she makes.

I’m still not convinced that Ali really wants to do it; in the last episode of Living Lohan she almost had a meltdown after one day of recording accompanied by diva behaviour. Things like that don’t make me think that Ali has a long career ahead of her.

Edit: People.com has posted the full song so that’s where you can listen to it.
