Alexa Vega in Helix

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Alexa Vega will star in the movie Helix made by writer and first time director and Aram Rappaport. Alexa plays a beautiful young woman who gets abducted by two desperate urban youths in Chicago. They’re witnessed by a street dweller who doesn’t know whether to involve himself or stay out of it. The last of five main characters is a corrupt cop who learns that his corrupt tendencies have bad implications but does this too late.

Now this story sounds okay and seems like a normal independent movie project. This however is not the case, the movie will be shot in one take. So this means the movie will not be edited afterwards, it also means that the actors need to know the script by heart and can’t afford to make mistakes. They only have five days for rehearsals and the movie will be shot a total of five times, five days in a row.

This is pretty much as big of an acting challenge as you can conceive, for Alexa this basically means that if she does a good job of it she might be noticed more and it can launch her career a bit more. However if she messes up it could also destroy her career.

Alexa Vega to star in Repo: The Genetic Opera

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Alexa Vega has signed to star in the movie Repo! The Genetic Opera. The movie is about a future society where people have genetically perfect organs implanted. When they cannot make their payments repo men will come in to collect the organs. Alexa will play a girl who discovers that her dad is one of the repo men.

Alexa Vega needed a new movie role if she wants to make it in the movie business, it was a little quiet around her for a while. Of course she was busy playing in Hairspray on Broadway, so it’s not really surprising that she would return to the big screen in a musical.

Yes, you heard it right a musical. This is a combination of a horror movie and a musical. It will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman who directed Saw II, III and IV, the movie is also based on a short movie he made in 2006.

I have absolutely no idea whether this concept will work or not, there aren’t that many horror musicals out there as far as I know. But for Alexa’s movie career it can only be a good move, she’s only done very minor stuff in the last couple of years after Spy Kids 3-D was released. So it can only get better basically.
