Amber Tamblyn to star in 50’s remake
Amber Tambly has signed on to co-star with Michael Douglas and Jesse Metcalfe in the remake of the 1956 movie Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. The movie is about a journalist who investigates a corrupt district attorney who sets himself up as a murder suspect. The District attorney uncovers his plot and incriminates the guy. The movie will be directed by Peter Hyams, shooting of the movie will start March 3rd.
It’s being described as a present day film noir, so the story won’t play in the period of the original but in present day. I’m never sure about remake projects, in general I’m not a fan of them. In this case however it’s not really a remake, the story will just be based on the original. It’s set in present day so you can’t really call it a remake, though the same title and the same general story outline make it a remake.
As for Amber’s career I don’t know what kind of effect it will have, she still hasn’t broken through into major Hollywood roles but she seems to be getting a steady stream of work now. Working with experienced actors like Michael Douglas (not that he’s one of my favourites, the opposite really) is always a good thing if you’re still developing a career.
